Hi, I’m Becky Puckett!
Thanks so much for stopping by!
Children of all ages have been a huge part of my life and a great source of passion, which is the driving force behind my desire to develop new and healthy ways to educate and grow happy, well-rounded humans.
Years ago, as a nanny, I learned the benefits of incorporating physical activities into daily routines when it comes to younger kids. When I became a mom, I used yoga to get me through the aches and pains of pregnancy. As an active mom, I turned to yoga and even became certified in children’s yoga. The positive effects of yoga (on both my kids and myself!) led to even more epiphanies about kids and how mental and physical health could tie into education. Armed with my 200-hour Registered Yoga Training certification, I decided to take it a step further and earned a Trauma Informed Certification that I put to use at a homeless shelter for youth and young adults in Seattle.
Along came OMstead Northwest, a family-friendly yoga studio on our one-acre homestead in Washington, where I could leverage my experience as a nanny and certified preschool teacher and apply my yoga education. When we moved across the country to Wake Forest NC, we bought a 10-acre forested farm and my love for gardening, sunshine and all things nature grew. It wasn’t long before I was inspired to make use of our property in yet another way — I would incorporate learning-in-nature into traditional curriculum to help kids of all shapes and sizes and learning levels to see education in a fun, interactive, natural and even scientific way. And Puckett Acres 100% outdoor learning experiences was born.
The response from the community has been heartwarming and motivating and Puckett Acres is helping more kids every day.
I’ve been a homeschool mom for about five years, so I understand that homeschoolers need more than hours at the kitchen table and I have witnessed how much outdoor learning helps my own kids. I also understand that kids are different — they learn differently and sometimes even have challenges that make it hard for them to succeed within a traditional learning environment. Making a difference for them and watching them blossom makes my heart sing.
I’m luckily married to an amazing man who supports all my wild and crazy dreams, and I’m the mom of three amazing kiddos (ages 12, 10 and 3), all known to assist with classes from time to time! Our daughter Harper is such a help to me — and I would be remiss not to recognize her for all she does (be sure to check out her little bio below). We have two wonderful rescue dogs, two donkeys, and a whole bunch of chickens.I welcome you to come out and let us show you around. A heartfelt THANK YOU for your interest in being a part of this amazing journey.

MEET
Harper Puckett
Meet my faithful farm hand!
Of our three children, daughter Harper has taken the most keen interest in farm life and is a big help with activities we organize for Puckett Acres outdoor learning experiences. She is always eager to help (and I’m sure it won’t surprise you to know she was always “the teacher’s helper” when she attended public school!). Now she’s “Mama’s helper.”
I truly don’t know what I’d do without her! Thank you, Harper!
the Pucketts are all about some family fun in the great outdoors!
